Creating a Healthy Back with Pranakriya Yoga

If you are challenged by back pain and instability, Creating a Healthy Back with Pranakriya Yoga can help. The program contained on this CD is the culmination of research and study in the fields of physical therapy, neuroscience and yoga. With back pain, there are common musculoskeletal imbalances that are present as well as an unbalanced activation of the nervous system. Pranakriya Yoga director and instructor Marlysa Sullivan MPT, E-RYT will lead you through a series of postures and techniques designed in a specific way to bring about length and engagement of these muscles while also helping you correct imbalances and properly engage your nervous system to produce a more stable core and a deep relaxation of the nervous system and back. The CD booklet also contains detailed color photographs of each posture used in this program. It's time to move beyond back pain and start creating a healthy back.


Meditative Posture CDMeditative Posture CD

This class is led with a balance of stretching and strengthening and has an internal focus. Pranayamas, including Kapalabhati, are used and warm-ups and kriyas are followed by postures. Postures may be led with long holdings and a focus on deep breathing. This class is appropriate for students who have learned the basic postures and are comfortable doing them with their eyes closed. Participation in this class will be safe if the student can listen to her body and both make adjustments to go deeper into the stretches, and back off or come out of postures if there is strain. This class forms a base that Yoganand uses in many of the 500-hour training programs.

Pranayama is the yogic science of breathing. In many eastern spiritual traditions breathing is considered the link between mind, body and spirit. Yoga utilizes these ancient breathing techniques to enhance the effects of yoga postures and to deepen seated meditation.
The guided pranayama experience on this CD is designed for beginner level students and contains Dirgha, Ujjayi, Kapalabhati, Alternate Nostril Kapalabhati and Nadi Shodhana pranayamas. Instructional tracks that guide you through each pranayama are included, as well as guidance on proper seated positions. Instruction in all the led breathing exercises is included in written form.
Tracks 1-5 lead you in a 31 minute pranayama experience suitable for daily practice. Each pranayama in this experience is on a separate track, and you may skip tracks to create a shorter practice session. The CD ends with a guided yoga experience emphasizing yogic breathing.

Mordy guides you through the causes of your insomnia and how meditation works to relieve it.  Insomnia can be delibitating if it takes you along time to get to sleep, or if you always awaken in the middle of the night for several hours before returning to sleep.
He guides you through two meditation techniques - a basic sitting meditation and a 2nd guided meditation for right before bedtime
Both are invaluable in helping you get to sleep sooner and reduce waking in the middle of the night.
This CD also includes 2 Music Only tracks for when you are ready to proceed to guide yourself through meditation.
